This annual document takes a look at the current state of marketing locally and around the world, and offers a peek into the future as well. Every year, HubSpot Research surveys thousands of the world’s marketers and salespeople. Inbound has always been about matching the way you market and sell with the way people actually want to shop and buy. So, as we think about the future of inbound, it's important to consider how evolving technologies and consumer habits redefine what it means to be helpful to your audience.

For example, here's what some of your fellow marketers said were some of their top priorities this past year:

Contrast this with what they predicted their focus would be in the future:

While we don't have a crystal ball, it is clear that some type of video use will become more prevalent.  But we do know for sure that the way you market today, probably won't exist in the five years.

Just think about how things were done 20 years ago. Most people only received 100 emails per week and did most of their talking on a land line. Today, we get thousands of emails per week and that's not even including messaging apps we use. In fact, this year alone, there have been 4 billion downloads of messaging apps and counting.

With this new technology, 2 out of 3 people consume information through social media. From these sources, Facebook users watch 8 billion videos everyday. On Snapchat, it's 10 billion!

Technology is becoming more mobile, more rapid and changing quicker than anyone has seen before. Interested to know how you compare to other companies in New Jersey and beyond? Get your free copy of the 2016 report by clicking here: State of Inbound
